We got in touch with Saul (he/him) through Instagram. Like many people and initiatives, this has often been the spot where we connect with those who are in the same field as we are: sexuality, intimacy and anything on the verge of that.
Saul's work is different than many of the other artists we've featured in the Erotic Art Gallery, but we hope you like is as much as we do. His digital art gets you thinking and exploring. We couldn't stop looking at his interpretation of the Sistine Chapel. Check out Saul's work and read on to find out more about who he is. This is the Erotic Art Gallery of Saul Zanolari.

Saul Zanolari was born on September 18th 1977 in Mendrisio – Switzerland. Since he was a child he has been intrigued by art and its forms of expression, and painting stood out out of all these forms. He’s always been convinced that everything can be said and denied. What really makes the difference is the way to present something, its aesthetic aspect. However, he’s always been more attracted by the content than by the surface of things. That’s why he’s never attended a school of art but he graduated in Philosophy in 2004, specifically in History of Classic Rhetoric. He switched his interest from traditional painting to digital painting in 2005. In the same year he started to exhibit his works in galleries all around the world. Saul Zanolari reinvents common people, celebrities and pop icons to investigate the growth of human being. One of his latest project is a digital fresco about the Sistine Chapel – an accurate reproduction of Michelangelo’s painting but without religious and censorious aspects towards nudity, where Adam and Eve show their animal nature.

I’m working as a professional artist there are 15 years more or less. I’m a curious person and during this time the inspirations changed very often. The center of my interest has always been the human being. Sometimes I’m intrigued about the bodies, some other times about the feelings or the inner life. It’s very inspirational the way one aspect affects all the others and the way each of us build a unique interpretation of life.

Intimacy is my perfect set to have sex in. I think it’s not a real place but a state of mind, where time and space will disappear and the word “boundaries" would lose its meaning.

It’s the only way. I tried not to prioritise pleasure. I tried to do things I didn’t like at all but I can’t. One way or another I boycott what I don’t like until I fail or until someone asks me to stop. This is why I started painting 15 years ago.
